About Amanda Jo Jewelry
Hi 👋 I’m Amanda!
Amanda Jo Jewelry was founded in 2024. I began as an apprentice in 2022 and now specialize in metalsmithing and lapidary (stone cutting and polishing). Ever since I was a kid I loved jewelry, rocks, and beads. So, starting Amanda Jo Jewelry has been a lifelong dream!
Each piece of Amanda Jo jewelry today is lovingly handcrafted by me in my Southern California studio. I do all the metalsmithing — meaning I form, solder, drill, file, patina, and polish all the silver you see in my collection. I also cut and drill stones.
My goal with Amanda Jo Jewelry is to add whimsy and beauty to your everyday 🌟 I hope that my jewelry helps you start or add quality pieces to your personal jewelry collection.
In my free time, you can find me in my Southern California studio, reading about jewelry design from other cultures, or planning my next trip where I will spend way too long looking through jewelry store windows 😉.
Frequently Asked Questions
What materials do you use?
Amanda Jo Jewelry sources specific metals and gemstones. In the current collection, we specialize in silver and tourmalines.
How can I care for my Amanda Jo Jewelry piece?
To keep your Amanda Jo piece pristine, avoid getting it wet or sweaty. If you’d like to clean it, do so with a cloth and warm water. If needed, you can use a mild soap.
Sterling silver is durable, but can be scratched. If you plan to wear your piece regularly, you should expect light wear and tear over time.
Silver will tarnish over time. You can shine up your piece with a silver polishing cloth like a Sunshine cloth.
If you’ve purchased a piece with a tourmaline, please remember that tourmalines are an organic material and have natural inclusions. Handle your piece with care as your tourmaline can crack if extreme force is applied.
How is pricing determined?
When jewelry is handcrafted, it takes a lot of time! Each collection is first drawn, prototyped in copper, updated as needed, created in silver, polished, and packaged. This process can take days for just one piece.
We calculate price based on materials and time spent. While the process above sounds intensive, it guarantees that each piece is of the utmost quality.
Why is my item tarnishing?
Sulphur, humidity, salt, and more all cause silver to tarnish. For example, if you live by the beach with humid, salty air, your silver will tarnish much quicker than someone who lives inland.
All silver tarnishes, it just depends on how fast. The best way you can shine up your piece at home is with a polishing cloth. Sunshine cloths are my go-to for easy polishing at home.
